International Red Cross Provides Medications and Supplies to Negros Oriental

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has provided medications and essential medical supplies to the provincial government of Negros Oriental. This initiative aims to support areas affected by conflict, particularly those impacted by the communist insurgency, as communicated by Dr. Liland Estacion, Chief of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), in a statement on Thursday.

The distribution of these medical resources will be coordinated through the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH), with the Guihulngan District Hospital in Guihulngan City serving as a central hub, especially for the northern regions with significant insurgency-affected areas, according to Estacion.

Various supplies, including medications for fever, cough, colds, vitamins, and other medical necessities, were delivered to Guihulngan City on Wednesday. The official handover of the donation took place at the capitol grounds, where Governor Manuel Sagarbarria, Vice Governor Jaime Reyes, and Dr. Liland Estacion received the contribution from ICRC representatives.

Dr. Estacion mentioned that representatives from ICRC-Philippines will soon visit Negros Oriental to explore opportunities for additional assistance. It is highlighted that the ICRC donation could potentially be utilized to support indigent patients in the province.
