Reaching our desired destination for the upcoming weekend poses a challenge. We aim to relish the scenic vistas alongside our close companions, traversing from the highlands, through the valley, to the plains of Bais City and Dewey Island within the jurisdiction of Sibulan. Our journey commences in Dauin, navigating the newly constructed bypass route towards Sibulan, and then proceeding along the coastal thoroughfare, passing through San Jose, Amlan, Tanjay City, Bais City, and ascending into the mountains towards Pamplona. In Tanjay City, we make a market stop to procure some provisions. Although there is an alternative route through Valencia, it is deemed hazardous, with sections suitable only for motorcycles or, in some instances, entirely impassable. We opt to avoid such risks.

Upon reaching our final destination, Ella & Malvin’s weekend retreat, around noon, the ladies prepare a meal while I venture through the property with my camera. By the midafternoon, the initial ice-cold beer is in our hands, urging us to savor its contents. As the evening unfolds, the festivities become livelier, with libations and singing extending into the early hours.

The distant glow of Bais City’s lights serves as a backdrop. After awakening individually in the late morning, and leisurely sipping coffee, everyone expresses a desire to descend to the river for a refreshing swim accompanied by a picnic.

Subsequently, we embark on our journey homeward a bit earlier, offering a ride to an elderly woman and her grandchildren for the kilometer-long uphill trek to their residence along the road.

The weekend proves to be delightful for all.
