We had planned to drive the Bonawon Coastal Highway with a detour to the peninsula that protects Tambobo Bay from the open sea from Zamboanguita on National Highway 7 to Siaton back on the National Highway and to explore some sights along the way.

We found the start of the Bonawon Coastal Highway in Zamboanguita quite quickly and also the turn-off to the end of the road on the peninsula. The road ends abruptly there. Somewhat hidden behind bushes, there are stairs leading down to a private jetty and the sea. Here the traveller is right opposite the fishing port of Siaton and has a view into the bay with its anchored sailing yachts.

We had already noticed the inviting sign to Kookoo’s Nest not far from here on the seaward side on the outward journey. Now we wanted to take a closer look at this resort on the cliff.

After we had explained that we wanted to film, we were shown the beautiful resort directly on the cliff face by some of the staff. Guests here have wonderful distant views of the sea and partly of the sandy beach below, which is accessible via a staircase.

After these moments of thinking of just staying here and enjoying the beauty of nature with the comfort, we then drive back the back road to Bonawon Coastal Highway and soon come across sign to AB Café. After placing our order for drinks and a bite to eat, we make our way through the mangroves via a boardwalk to the jetty. There is a small restaurant built of wood and bamboo over the water, but it is only open in the evening. The owners of the sailing yachts moor here to come ashore. I can imagine that many a fun evening is spent together here.
