DAUIN – The Town

Dauin is a town in Central Visayas, on the island of Negros, in the province of Negros Oriental, Philippines. It has many popular attractions, including Apo Island, making it well worth a visit.

We looked for and found the yellow steel bridge over a gorge to a small village on the slopes of the stratovolcano Mount Talinis, in the hinterland of Dauin, where almost all roads lead up from the coast.

From there we continued to Baslay Highland Brew Coffee and hot springs.

Afterwards we could enjoy the view over the island of Siquijor, the village of Dauin and the town of Dumaguete at the Dauin EDC Geothermal Exploration site 2.

From there we drove down to the village and visited the plaza, the town hall and the newly renovated St. Nicolas of Tolentino Church. Here I got a special tour from two young members of the parish who even took me up the steeple at the end.

Dauin has sandy beaches with a marine reserve and diving area in the middle of town.

There are many old wooden houses to admire within the community.
